Tess Tyler is the daughter of the famous T.J. Tyler, and one day wishes to be a singer, like her mother.

Tess is a diva and gets her way all the time, even if she has to hurt people to do so. She is pretty, rich, spoiled, and proud of it. She isn't afraid to show off because everyone looks up to her at Camp. When Shane Gray comes to camp, she puts all her efforts into making him notice her, even going so far as dissing her own friends in front of crowds, and is an attention seeker. The reason for Tess' behavior is because her mother is often too busy with her career to spend time with her.

When we first see Tess, she walks out of a limo, bling and all with a smug smile on her face because she knows everyone is watching her in awe. As the movie continues, we see she is quickly jealous of Mitchie as she becomes more and more popular by the day and plans to take revenge, especially when she sees her best friend Caitlyn Gellar, whom she dislikes, and when she sees Mitchie bond with Shane Gray. Tess finds out Mitchie's secret that she is just an average girl from a struggling family and not a rich daughter of Hot Tunes TV China's president. She spills it out in front of a whole crowd of campers, leaving Mitchie humiliated and upset. She continues to bug Mitchie and Caitlyn and when they stand up to her, she frames them for stealing her charm bracelet and gets them banned from Final Jam. However, karma quickly catches up to Tess. Her 'friends', Ella and Peggy, get fed up with being pushed around by her and promptly ditch her, and Tess, upon seeing her mother distracted by a phone call in the audience, trips and nearly falls off the stage, subsequently retreating backstage in tears. Thinking over her actions, Tess congratulates Peggy after she wins the Final Jam, and personally apologizes to Mitchie for her actions.
